Truth Shield is a Chrome extension that checks images for Content Credentials (C2PA) metadata and known AI-generation tool fingerprints. Analysis runs entirely on your device.
Truth Shield does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your browsing activity, page content, or images with any external server. Image bytes are read locally in your browser only to check for embedded metadata markers, and are discarded immediately after analysis.
Truth Shield stores your settings, daily scan count, and (if applicable) your subscription status locally using Chrome's storage APIs. This data stays on your device or syncs privately via your own Google account (Chrome Sync), and is never sent to us.
Subscription payments are processed by ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), a third-party payment processor. Truth Shield does not see or store your payment card details. Refer to ExtensionPay's own privacy policy for how they handle payment data.
When available and enabled in Settings, Truth Shield uses Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano model to summarize detected signals. This processing happens entirely on your device and is not sent to Google or any other server by Truth Shield.
Truth Shield requests activeTab, scripting, contextMenus, storage, and notifications only. It never requests host permissions to any website, and every scan is initiated explicitly by you.
