Chrome Extension

DogOfTheDay ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that displays daily dog photos with breed information. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights as a user. We believe in full transparency: we do not collect, store, or sell any personal information.

1. Data We Do Not Collect

The Extension does not collect, transmit, or share any of the following:

Your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
Your browsing history or activity on any website
Your location or device identifiers
Any financial or payment card information
Any data from web pages you visit

2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The Extension uses chrome.storage.local to save preferences and state on your device only. This data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly export it. It includes:

Seen image IDs — a list of dog photo IDs you have already viewed, used to prevent repeats
Daily usage count — how many dogs you have viewed today, used to enforce the free tier limit
Favourite dog photos — photos you have saved by tapping the heart icon (premium feature)
Subscription tier — whether you are on the Free, Monthly, Yearly, or Lifetime plan
Popup size preference — your chosen popup dimensions
Review status — whether you have received the review reward (stored locally only)

3. Third-Party Services

3a. TheDogAPI

The Extension fetches dog photos and breed information from TheDogAPI (api.thedogapi.com). Requests are made without any user-identifying information. TheDogAPI may log standard HTTP request metadata (IP address, timestamp) in accordance with their own privacy policy. No personal data about you is sent to TheDogAPI.

3b. ExtensionPay (Stripe)

Premium subscriptions are processed by ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe for secure payment processing. When you upgrade, you are directed to a hosted payment page operated by ExtensionPay. Payment information (card details, billing address) is entered on ExtensionPay's page and processed by Stripe — it is never visible to or stored by the Extension itself.

ExtensionPay communicates with extensionpay.com to verify your subscription status. This request includes your Chrome extension installation ID (a random identifier specific to the Extension, not your Google account) and is used solely to confirm whether your plan is active. 4. Permissions Used

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

storage — to save your preferences, seen-photo history, and favourites locally on your device
alarms — to reset your daily usage count automatically at midnight

The Extension also declares host permissions for extensionpay.com (to verify subscription status) and api.thedogapi.com (to fetch dog photos). No other websites or domains are accessed.

5. Cookies

The Extension does not set or read any cookies. Cookies used on ExtensionPay's payment page are governed by their own policy.

6. Children's Privacy

The Extension does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13. The Extension contains no content inappropriate for children and is suitable for all ages.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
